Scripture

Isaiah 7:14

[14] Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (ESV)

John 1:1–3

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. (ESV)

John 1:14

[14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (ESV)

Scripture Reading

One of our Advent traditions is having families read the sermon text both in English and in a different language. We do this because the Gospel is Good News for ALL PEOPLE! This week students and families of Coram Deo Academy read the scriptures in English and Latin. The Rickabaugh family read the scripture at the 8 AM service, the Johnston family read at the 9:30 AM service, and the Harris family read at the 11:10 AM service.

Call to Worship

Psalm 39:7–8

[7] “And now, O Lord, for what do I wait?
My hope is in you.
[8] Deliver me from all my transgressions.
Do not make me the scorn of the fool! (ESV)

Prayer of Repentance

Merciful Lord, pardon all my sins of this day, week, year — all the sins of my life. Pardon sins of early, middle, and advanced years, of omission and commission, of deception, injustice, untruthfulness in my dealings with others, of impurity in thought, word and deed. Pardon all my sins, known and unknown, felt and unfelt, confessed and not confessed, remembered or forgotten. Good Lord, hear; and hearing, forgive. Amen.

Benediction

May the Eternal Word, who was with God and was God, reveal His glory to you afresh in the birth of Jesus Christ. May His Spirit open your eyes to behold
the incarnate Deity—Immanuel, God with us—full of grace and truth. May you rejoice in Christ who brings light, life, and healing. In the name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord, Amen.
