Scripture
Luke 1:26–35
[26] In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, [27] to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!” [29] But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. [30] And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. [31] And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. [32] He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, [33] and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” [34] And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” [35] And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. Scripture Reading
One of our Advent traditions is having families read the sermon text both in English and in a different language. We do this because the Gospel is Good News for ALL PEOPLE! The Castillo family read the scripture in English and Koine Greek at the 8 AM service, the Kogut family read in English and Polish at the 9:30 AM service, and the Adamson family read in English and Tagalog at the 11:10 AM service.

Call to Worship
Psalm 38:15–16
[15] But for you, O LORD, do I wait;
it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer.
[16] For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me,
who boast against me when my foot slips!” (ESV)
Psalm 38:21–22
[21] Do not forsake me, O LORD!
O my God, be not far from me!
[22] Make haste to help me,
O Lord, my salvation! (ESV)

Prayer of Repentance
Father, our minds are set on the flesh, and are hostile to you and do not submit to your law. Lord, we repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Do not let our iniquities be our ruin; but take away our sin, that we may not die. Create in us clean hearts, O God, and renew right spirits within us. Amen.

Benediction
May the God who sent Christ into the World, born of the Virgin Mary, remind you today that nothing is impossible with Him. May the Holy Spirit strengthen your faith in every promise He has made. May you leave here full of wonder and hope, confident that the same God who kept His word to Mary will keep every word He has spoken to you. Amen.
