Last night was our Winter Church Family Meeting. We shared a number of encouraging updates and if you were unable to attend, we’ve captured the highlights for you. You can watch the video directly below or read the following summaries to get caught up.

Eldership Candidates

Kim Highfield

After a lengthy season of testing, the Coram Deo Elders unanimously voted to approve Kim’s eldership candidacy and ordain him for ministry at Coram Deo Church! At the meeting, the elders laid hands and prayed over him, finalizing his installation as a Coram Deo elder. Kim will continue to lead through the Men’s Training events and will assist with other teaching opportunities as they arise. We are so thankful for Kim and look forward to the ways that God will use him as a minister of the Gospel in our body.

Brian Bailey

Brian is pursuing a call towards vocational ministry and has removed himself from the eldership candidacy process at Coram Deo Church. He and his family will continue to worship and fellowship with us until God provides a pastorate for him. We love Brian and wish him the very best in his search!

Mission & Vision

The video at the top of the post contains Pastor Jon’s full remarks on the upcoming season for us at Coram Deo. Here are a couple of the highlights:

North Kitsap Church Plant

We are still pursuing moving forward with the North Kitsap plant but have been running into roadblocks, specifically with regards to finding a suitable meeting space. We have set aside a sum of money specifically for the plant and are currently looking towards 2023 for a potential launch date.

Jobs & Education

Over the past couple of years, God has been leading the Coram Deo elders towards thinking about two big needs that Christians face in a society that is increasingly hostile towards the people of God: jobs and education. In the video above, Pastor Jon lays out the need for both and talks about what our church hopes to do about it. One primary objective is that we intend to actively work both towards starting a private Christian school and also establishing a seminary through Coram Deo Church.

Building Update

We’ve been actively looking for options for increasing our meeting space to match the growing needs of our congregation. In addition to needing more space on Sunday mornings, we also want to provide a better office for our staff and better accommodate Coram Deo’s growing Youth Community. We were recently presented with an option to lease roughly half of the building next door and we are in the process of finalizing the lease agreement. Our hope is to begin using the building next door for offices and as a designated youth space by April 1.

Additionally, the owner of the other buildings in our business park has told us that he’s considering selling one or more of the buildings. We would like to pursue this opportunity if possible and ask that you would pray for God’s favor and wisdom as we navigate those conversations.
